12 Hours in Bournemouth
Bournemouth is a popular tourist destination, especially in the summer, but there is plenty to see and do throughout the year.
We were invited to review the Connaught Hotel in Bournemouth, where we held our wedding reception over 17 years ago.
This boutique hotel is situated on the West Cliff and is less than a five minute walk from Bournemouth beach, or the town centre.
It is the perfect base to spend a luxurious break, as it is also home to the Bluewater Spa which includes an 18m indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, four spa treatment rooms, a fully equipped gym and a stunning relaxation lounge.
We stayed in the Orchid Suite on the top floor of the hotel, which offered sea glimpses from the windows and balcony area.
We started our stay in the Bluewater Spa, with a facial for me, whilst my husband enjoyed the pool facilities.
My 55 minute treatment was heavenly and my skin was glowing when I emerged. The spa is open to non-residents, so I will definitely be back for another one soon.
After the treatment, we headed to the Brasserie for afternoon tea, which featured a delicious mix of sandwiches, scones and cakes.
We definitely needed a walk afterwards and headed down to the beach and around Bournemouth Gardens.
There is plenty to see and do in Bournemouth, even as we head towards winter. They are currently installing Christmas Tree Wonderland and the ice rink in the gardens will be open from 17th November.
After such a large afternoon tea, we couldn’t face eating in the evening, so instead headed to Mr Mulligans some adventure golf fun. This is set in the BH2 building, which is also home to several restaurants, an escape room and the new Doom Battle Bar.
From there, we ventured across the road to Level 8 Skybar, the highest bar in the South West, for some cocktails.
The following morning, we enjoyed breakfast and the use of the spa facilities again before checking out.
It was lovely to spend a child-free few hours, even if we were exploring our home town. I can highly recommend The Connaught Hotel and will definitely be back to celebrate special occasions with a spa treatment and / or afternoon tea.
