A Short Break at Andrewshayes Holiday Park
We visit West Dorset fairly regularly as we adore fossil hunting and exploring the Jurassic coast, so when we were invited to stay at Andrewshayes Holiday Park, just over the Devon border we jumped at the chance.
The holiday park offers all-season camping, motorhome pitches, glamping pods and static holiday home rentals, all sat in rolling hills just off the A35, making it so easy to find that I didn’t even have to plug in my satnav.
Our home for a couple of nights was a static 3 bedroom holiday home which comfortably sleeps 6. It had a well equipped kitchen, a comfortable lounge and dining area, bathroom, 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds in each, a master bedroom with a double bed and en suite toilet and a decking area outside with a patio set. Some of their luxury homes even have a hot tub!!
The caravan was modern, well equipped and comfortable and the weather was so warm that we had to open all the windows so a nice cool breeze swept through.
This of course let in a rather large wasp which freaked us all out as we didn’t have our resident wasp catcher with us (Daddy). Thankfully the team at Andrewshayes came to the rescue and sent up their resident wasp catcher who soon sorted the problem for us.
What really sells the park is its location and the onsite facilities. It is set in the rolling Devon countryside and the manicured lawns and flower beds merge into the hills in the distance, plus it has everything there to keep your comfortable should you not want to leave your holiday home including, a small shop, Ploughman’s Bar and take-away, small toddler soft play room and games room for older kids (and adults).
What really sold it to the kids was the heated indoor swimming pool and I struggled to tear them away each time we wandered down to use it.
Just behind the swimming pool is a shaded children’s park complete with seesaw, swings, slide, obstacles and a climbing frame.
The holiday park was nicely arranged too, with caravans nicely separated and room to the park you car beside it.
There is also a woodland nature trail for the kids to complete and a large field where you can let the kids loose with a football.
I would certainly stay at Andrewshayes Holiday Park again, it is the perfect destination for visiting the Jurassic coast and everything it has to offer. Next time though, I want to stay in one of their new Glamping Pods.
During our stay we visited Pecorama and the Beer Heights Railway, Wildwood Escot, the Axe Valley Wildlife Park and the Jurassic Coast including Beer, Seaton, Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

I haven’t been to Devon yet and would really like to. We’ve actually moved into a static home in Portugal while we figure out if it’s the right move for us and they are surprisingly big inside.

Some of my happiest childhood memories are from staying in a static caravan in Eype with my family including grandparents. Looks like you had a great stay with Andrew Hayes Holiday Park 🙂
