Which location is top of your destination list if you won the lottery?
Winning big on the lottery is probably something everyone dreams about at some point in their lives.
Like many people we dream about buying a bigger house, getting a new car and taking the kids on a really big adventure.
But what would that adventure involve?
Travelling is a real passion of ours and we are keen to explore as much as we can, whether it is what is on our doorstep, or is the other side of the world.
I have to admit that Hubby and I do disagree on where we would travel to first and it’s Australia and New Zealand that is top of his list.
Australia & New Zealand
In 2.5 million square miles in area, the Australian Outback is home to several climate zones, rugged national parks and red-earthed deserts offer the ultimate in adventure travel.
Among the top things on his list is to climb over the Sydney Harbour Bridge with the family, learn to surf at Bondi Beach, take the Katoomba Scenic Railway through the Blue Mountains, go diving along the Great Barrier Reef and make the climb up Uluru (formerly Ayers Rock).
After falling in love with cruising, he then wants to board a cruise ship bound for New Zealand where we can all chill out for a couple of days before exploring what New Zealand has to offer.
For those of you that are new to my blog, Hubby is a bit of an adrenalin junkie and he is keen to try the Kawarau Bridge Bungy jump and the Sky Tower jump with the older kids. I would probably take the younger ones and do the sky walk and find something a little more gentle.
Then there is Rotorua & the Bay of Plenty, with its bubbling volcanic mud, stinky gas, gushing geysers and Māori haka performances, it sounds like the perfect adventure for the kids, before we head into the mountains to see the glaciers and to enjoy some snowy fun.
My Dad has been to New Zealand on a number of occasions and it is a destination he raves about, so there has to be something in Hubby’s choice, however, my first choice of destination would be the one we wanted for our Honeymoon – South Africa.
South Africa
With great beaches, wildlife, vineyards and wildlife safaris, it has everything we are looking for in an adventure holiday and it would give Hubby the chance to swim with sharks whilst we all watched from the safety of the boat.
The closest we have got to a safari is Kilimanjaro Safaris in Walt Disney World which really isn’t the same as seeing the animals in the wild as nature intended and I would love the family to experience a Safari in one of their amazing game reserves.
You can’t go to South Africa without visiting Table Mountain and although you can hike to the top, which takes 3-4 hours (more likely 5 with the younger ones), I would much prefer to take the cable car and enjoy the views on the way up. There are several viewpoints on top, offering wonderful views of the city below as well as a restaurant.
Hubby is reluctant to go with the kids due to the crime rates, but I am reassured that as long as we stick to the tourist trail we will be perfectly safe.

Great list of options. I actually have a buddy who is in Australia now on holiday. The pictures she’s posting make me really want to visit there one day. So, Australia has my vote…today.

Such a hard decision, although if I won the lottery I’m guessing I could take several trips. New York would be probably top of my list though.
