Our Travel Plans and Travel Wishlist for 2018
It is the first week of January and with the wind howling and the rain drumming on the windows, my thoughts are turning to our travel plans for 2018.
I would like to say we are really organised and have a plan in place for every month but with Hubby’s work constraints and Kian about to embark on his final few months of A-Levels, things are a bit up in the air.
Our Travel Plans
This month we will be staying close to home and enjoying some local days out. It is also Eliza’s 7th birthday and we have booked her party for Rockreef on Bournemouth Pier as she loves climbing. I am hoping she will brave the vertical slide this time too.
February sees us heading to a slightly warmer climate and the beautiful city of Lisbon in Portugal.
We will be staying for two nights at Martinhal Cascais, on the coast, and two nights at Martinhal Chiado in central Lisbon which will give us the chance to explore the beautiful city.
Things then go quiet until the end of July when we head to Camp Bestival for our fifth year. The kids are already plotting their ‘must see’ shows, with Dinosaur World Live, Dick ‘n’ Dom and the Dingly Dell all top of their lists.
As for Hubby and I, we are looking forward to Simple Minds and Rick Astley so far and are hoping it will be drier and a lot less muddy this year!!
The final part of our travel plans that we have booked so far is December, when we will be heading back to Coombe Mill for Christmas.
We spent Christmas with them in 2013 and 2014 and they really know how to make things special. We will be staying in Tree Roots again and it will be the first time Sebby will really get to appreciate everything they offer and I cannot wait to see him getting involved in the feed runs, taking part in their craft hour and riding on the miniature train!
As I have booked so early, Fiona and I are trying to organise some snow during our stay, but not sure how manageable that will be!
Our Travel Wishlist
2017 was the year of dreams coming true travel wise for us, as we ticked two huge items off our bucket list: Seeing Father Christmas in Lapland and travelling to Walt Disney World in Florida.
The thing about travel, is the more places you visit, the more you end up adding to the list. Top of our bucket list is still a visit to Iceland and it is something we hope to do as a short, child-free break rather than a family holiday.
We fell in love with cruising back in 2016 and would love to do another cruise. I would love to kill two birds with one stone and take a Northern European cruise which takes in the Norwegian Fjords and then heads across to Iceland.
Hubby is fascinated by WW2 and a couple of years ago I arranged a visit to Normandy to visit the D-Day beaches. He is keen to visit Berlin and see buildings and monuments of historical significance and linkage to the Third Reich and World War 2.
The kids want to continue on from their Disney adventure and re-visit Florida, this time doing Universal Studios.
Closer to home, we would love to re-visit Scotland as we fell in love with the country earlier this year and with Hubby and Kian both itching to ride the fastest zip-line in the UK, Velocity, and me wanting to climb Mt Snowden (or cheat and get the train), a visit to North Wales is also on the cards.
Do you have any travel plans for 2018?

Some great plans here. I absolutely love Lisbon but also appreciate traveling in the UK. There are so many great things right on our doorstep. One of my favourite trips ever was our 10 day Norwegian Fjord cruise, so I can definitely recommend that off your wishlist!

All of your travel plans for this year sound so lovely. I’ve heard a lot about Camp Bestival, it always looks so much fun for families. I haven’t go anything booked yet but have a few places I’m hoping to get to. I do need to do some major renovations in the house so travelling might have to take a back seat whilst I work out my budget for everything.
