Review: The Rocky Horror Show UK Tour at Bournemouth Pavilion
We are massive Musical Theatre fans, but one show that has eluded us, until now, is The Rocky Horror Show.
In Bournemouth for just one week, we were lucky enough to be invited to the opening night and what a night it was!!
Firstly, to every single audience member that dressed up as their favourite characters – you are all amazing!
Secondly, if you are after a musical that you are welcomed to join in with, then this is the one for you.
If, like us, you have not see The Rocky Horror Show before, it tells the story of of two squeaky clean college kids–Brad and his fiancée Janet. When by a twist of fate, their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion whilst on their way to visit their former college professor, they meet the charismatic Dr Frank’n’Furter, a transvestite alien determined to build a beautiful creature for his pleasure.
The audience got involved almost straight away, heckling the narrator, Nathan Caton, who came right back at them with hilarious and witty retorts.
Connor Carson and Lauren Chia were perfectly cast as Brad and Janet and they did not disappoint as they found themselves thrown into all manner of mayhem. The show is packed full of fun, frolics, frocks, and frivolity.
Personally, my favourite character was Riff Raff, a Transylvanian who acts as a servant to Frank and is brilliantly awkward, but an amazing dancer. Adam Strong was also amazing as the larger than life Dr Frank-N-Furter.
The show has plenty of fun and naughty moments throughout. The highlight has to be The Time Warp and it featured in the first half and again in the finale, with the whole audience joining in.
If you are after something different, that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, the The Rocky Horror Show is a must.
Tickets are available from Bournemouth Pavilion up until 8th February!
