Staying at Summer Mews with Kent and Sussex Cottages
When travelling, as a larger than average family, we prefer the convenience of staying in a holiday cottage rather than a hotel as it gives us the space to relax without getting under each others feet.
In May we were offered a weekend break with Kent and Sussex Cottages and got to stay in a the beautiful Summer Mews townhouse in Littlesea, Kent.
We couldn’t have asked for a better location, as the property enjoyed views over, not one, but two golf course, glimpses of the sea and countryside in the distance.
It was also a mere 5 minute walk to the beach where the kids found hundreds of seaside treasure including shells, mermaids purses and cuttlefish.
The property itself was bright, modern and perfect for a family holiday.
The cottage is set over 3 floors, with the ground floor having a single bedroom, family bathroom, large garage with utility area, toys and equipment for trips to the beach and access to a small garden and driveway.
On the first floor is the main living area with a kitchen / living area with balcony overlooking the garden and a snug, with second widescreen TV – perfect for when the kids don’t want to watch the same thing.
The second floor is home to a large master bedroom, a twin room and another bathroom.
The only problem we had was choosing who got which bed!
We have stayed in a few holiday cottages in recent years and this was definitely one of the best equipped, especially from the kids perspective as there were plenty of toys and games to keep them occupied, whatever the weather.
There was also a fabulous hamper waiting for us in the kitchen with delicious treats for all the family, plus, tea and coffee, milk, sugar, margarine, cheese and bread so we didn’t have to find the shops straight away!
During our stay we not only visited the local beach, but we also headed out to explore Dover Castle.
On the way back from Kent to Dorset, we drove along the coast instead of taking the motorway and enjoyed stops at Battle Abbey and Brighton too.
Next time I would like to spend more time in Kent and explore some more of what the county has to offer.

We used to stay at a cottage like this called Toledo House when we visited Put-In-Bay,Ohio. It truly was like a home away from home and made a vacation all that more fun…..but we had to look at a nuclear power plant instead of a castle…..

The accommodation looks beautiful and great for a family. We’re now looking at holiday cottages as hotel rooms no longer work for us
