Review: Paradox Museum London
Over the summer we spent quite a lot of time in London to see some of our favourite musicals, which also left us looking for other things to do with the kids.
I spotted a poster for the Paradox Museum on a tube poster and it looked fun, so I booked us in for a visit. It is run by the company FEVER, who we have previously visited the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest with, so I was confident it would be a fun day out.
Set directly opposite to Harrods, the Paradox Museum is full of ultra-instagrammable photo ops and surprising paradoxes that will defy your perception of reality.
There are over 50 illusions in the museum and the kids especially had great fun posing for photo’s at them all.
I would say the museum is best aimed at tweens and teens as there is some queuing involved at each exhibit as you walk through, but we did visit at the height of the summer holidays.
The entire space is laid out well, with smaller optical illusions displayed between the large ones to keep you interested throughout – there are even handy QR codes to scan to tell you about each illusion. plus signs demonstrating how best to capture the illusion when taking a photo, as well as helpful staff on hand for anything else you may need.
With 25 rooms to explore, we were there approximately 90 minutes, but you are not timed, so if you want to do the circuit again, you can.
Highlights for us included the underground station, kaleidoscope and the infinity room.
The kids also enjoyed the zero-gravity tunnel, where they clambered around in a moving wheel, although all didn’t become clear until we saw the video afterwards.
The Paradox Museum tickets start from £14 per person and it is advisable to book in advance as no more than 50 people will be allowed into the museum at any one time, giving visitors the chance to explore the exhibitions without the crowds.
It is open from 10am until 5.30pm every day, with the museum staying open until 7pm every Friday and Saturday. Visits are expected to last around 90 minutes.
Located opposite Harrods, Knightsbridge is the nearest London Underground Tube Station.
