All the fun of Victorious Festival for kids
We love our family festivals but have been a bit unlucky with the weather this year, as the last day of Camp Bestival was cancelled due to the inclement weather and the Fairy Festival was a washout.
We were hopeful that Victorious Festival would be luckier with the weather but skipped the Friday night launch night with my beloved Kaiser Chiefs because of the torrential rain.

Thankfully the worst of the weather blew through overnight and we set off bright and early for the park and ride. The traffic was surprisingly clear and we arrived nice an early, with plenty of time to get our faces painted before the fun started.
What I love about Victorious is that, not only is it an affordable family festival with great acts, but that they publish the time and location of all acts in advance, so you don’t have to buy and expensive program. There was only one band to see for Sebby and that was Andy and the Oddsocks.
Fronted by Andy Day, of CBeebies fame, Andy and the Oddsocks offers an array of multi-genre tracks catering to children aged 4-10; the sound is a wonderful introduction to the world of music and entertainment through a mix of country, hip hop and rock and roll sounds that really gets the kids up and dancing.
They performed on the Kids stage, which was located in the Kids Arena in the rear corner of the festival and packed full of enough activities to occupy the small people for the whole day.
Not only did we get to meet Andy and the Oddsocks, Paddington and Finn and Jake, but we got to take part in lots of fun activities too.
I got to introduce the kids to some of my favourite childhood games such as Pacman and Pong in the retro gaming tent as well as trying our hand at some circus skills.
The kids area was packed full of fun for kids, with free bouncy castles to leap on, free small fairground rides and lots of crafty fun for them all to enjoy.
For older kids like Isaac, there was the Action Stations Nerf Area, a climbing wall, plus the brilliant Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Mary Rose Zones!
One of the kids favourite part of the day was taking part in a Jedha Fit workshop – a mix of Jedi Training and street dance – they run kids and adult classes in Portsmouth, but we just wish they were based closer to us as the kids had so much fun.
Adjacent to the Kids Arena was he fun fair, with rides more suited to older children and teens.
We enjoyed a ride on he Big Wheel which gave us spectacular views over the festival and the Solent.
The kids also managed to get a turn on the flying swings out of me too.
Once I finally managed to tear the kids away from the Kids Arena, we got to explore the rest of the festival and found everything from author talks to comedians and even a circus.
Like Camp Bestival, one of the highlights is always catching one of the parades that work their way around the site.
We had a brilliant day at Victorious Festival, despite not seeing any bands that were performing.
Sadly rain stopped play again for us on the Sunday and many of the day time activities had to be postponed or cancelled, but I do applaud all those that braved the weather.

I’ve not heard of this festival before, it looks like it’s great for families. I’ll look to see if it’s too far from us, as I would love to go to one next year

We visited here when it first started and had so much fun, but we didn’t take the children. I think the kids would love it. There is lots to do for the children and a big kids area. Gutted you didn’t see Keaiser Chiefs

The rain seems to target all the festivals around the UK doesn’t it! I always fancy Victorious festival but it’s always the same weekend as Leeds Fest so can never make it. It sounds a great weekend though, I didn’t realise there was so much to do for families there too.
