A visit to Turtle Bay Bar and Restaurant – Bournemouth
We have been itching to try Caribbean restaurant and bar, Turtle Bay, for some time now and last month we were invited to our local Bournemouth branch to try out their fab menu.
Turtle Bay specialises Caribbean sharing food, inspired by beach shack & street vendors across the Caribbean islands and their menu is packed full of great tasting dishes which you can choose to share with your fellow guests, or keep all to yourself.
We opted for the Jerk Jerk platter with marinated jerk wings, glazed pork ribs, Jamaican beef patty, chicken flatbread, sweet corn fritters & super green salad for our starter.
Having not eaten in Turtle Bay before we ordered a main course too, when in fact it was too much food when combined with a sharing platter. In hindsight I would probably order a couple of sharing platters and then save a bit of room for dessert.
That said, Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his Street Shack Burger a seasoned beef burger with spicy pulled jerk pork, sweet onion chutney and crispy pork rind. I went for the Kingston Toastie which is a crispy sourdough with scotch bonnet & herb butter, filled with cheese, rocket, sweet onion chutney and Caribbean slaw with spiced fries or a dressed salad. It was very tasty but the bread made it too heavy for me.
The beauty of Turtle Bay is that you can dine from the full menu or just enjoy the drinks for an easy-breezy, laid back drinking experience inspired by the relaxed outlook of the Caribbean.
Lovers of the Turtle Bay Caribbean social can now book a table for just cocktails, and enjoy a chilled-out drinking experience with full table service from the comfort of Turtle Bay’s cool but cosy dining enclaves.
Sadly I just didn’t have room to sample some of their delicious desserts, but we will definitely be back for more this time to try their fab kids menu which costs just £4.50.
Before you visit, download the new Turtle Bay app available on iTunes and Google Play. Not only can you insta-book your table on the night, but every time you use the Turtle Bay App you’ll receive 1 loyalty Turtle for every £7 you spend. Save up your Turtles and use them to buy your favourite dishes or drinks within the App. You’ll also be the first to hear about exciting offers and freebies!
There are Turtle Bay restaurants all over the country, check out this review of their Newcastle branch.
