An Easter Holiday Adventure at Marwell

Posted on
April 13, 2025

We love a visit to Marwell Zoo, near Southampton as it is a fabulous day out that all the family enjoy.

New for Easter 2025 is their Around the World in 80 Species event and its not to be missed.

Running from Saturday 5 April to Monday 21 April 2025 is this unforgettable journey around the world.

If visiting with kids, make sure you pick up your Marwell Explorer Passport when you arrive and set off on an adventure trail around the zoo, where you’ll you encounter storytellers and live entertainment, as well as their expert Animal Keepers, who share facts about the endangered species they care for from around the world.

I highly recommend you download the Marwell app, as it has all the times and locations of the extra activities, to help you plan your day. The Adventure Storytellers will be telling the stories of the scimitar-horned oryx (10:30am, 11am & 11:30am), white-clawed crayfish (12.30pm, 1pm & 1:30pm) and snow leopard (2:30pm, 3pm & 3:30pm) through the park.

The main reason to visit Marwell though, is the amazing animals that call the zoo home.

There is also the opportunity to capture memories to treasure with five Around the World in 80 Species photo opportunities around the park (if your kids want to play ball).

Visit on Easter Sunday (20th April) for some hopping good fun, as the Easter Bunny will be sending two special bunny helpers who are playing hide and seek around the zoo. If you can find them (look out for their long ears), they’ll reward you with an egg!

It is worth mentioning that Marwell is having some renovations. The entrance is being changed and Penguin Beach is currently closed and the penguins are in a temporary home near Marwell House and the Rhino enclosure. You can see them, however not as close up as they normally are.

That said, Marwell is still well worth a visit and my grandson Barney adored his first experience of the zoo, as it is such a safe space for kids to explore.

Entrance to Marwell costs from £25 for children over 3 and £29 for adults if you book online, before your visit. Gate prices are more expensive.
