What the kids are looking forward to seeing at Camp Bestival 2017
Cannot believe that Camp Bestival is just one more sleep away.
The kids have been busily scanning the website to see who is there this year and it is safe to say that they are uber excited by some of the acts.
Back in February we were introduced to Fun Kids Radio during a very long journey to Scotland and there was one band in particular that they wanted to here: Andy and the Odd Socks and particularly the ‘Cheeky Bum Song’.
At the time we had no idea that it was actually Andy Day of Cbeebies fame, who is already well loved by all the kids for his fun dinosaur raps. In fact we saw him at ZSL London Zoo for the opening of Zoorassic Park at the weekend and Eliza was determined to put in her song request for Camp Bestival.
Andy and the Odd Socks is the greatest band in the world, according to Isaac, Eliza and Sebastian!
The band consists of Rocking Rio on Guitar, Cool Blu on Bass, the Mega Moxy hitting the Drums and Random Keith on Keys (his name isn’t really Keith, there was a misunderstanding when he said he played ‘keys’ bless him, so the name stuck!) and of course, Andy on vocals.
Offering an array of multi-genre tracks catering to children aged 4-10; the sound is a wonderful introduction to the world of music and entertainment through a mix of country, hip hop and rock and roll sounds. Andy’s energy and passion teaches those who listen to the songs that everyone is one-of- a-kind and in this day and age, it’s ok to be yourself and unique. They even have an album out: Who Invited This Lot?
After playing Musical Splatues on stage at Butlins with Dick n Dom, they will always be a firm favourite with Isaac and Eliza is hoping for their mad cap rendition of Nelly the Elephant this year.
They really know how to work up a crowd and I am hoping we do a bit better with the giant inflatables this year, if they bring them along. Of course, their presence at the festival always starts a campsite game of “Bogey’s” too.
For Sebastian, CBeebies magazine will also be in attendance and will be situated in the Lower Kids’ Garden with amusements aplenty to keep tots entertained including adventurous colouring fun with Andy’s dinosaurs, and craft-based delights making Go Jetter masks & badges and CBeebies hairy headdresses.
They will also have Story Time with the CBeebies magazine team each evening. Plus, they’ll have lots more including CBeebies magazine medallions and Glitch masks, eyebrows and moustaches to wear!
Also on a CBeebies theme, Mr Tumble always puts on an amazing show on the Castle Stage, complete with glitter bombs and water pistols and Mr Maker will also be in attendance for the first time.
Isaac is itching to see the West End musical School of Rock who will also be performing. Based on the hit film, the hilarious musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band.
And then of course there are the old favourites such as Lizzie’s Way, the lower kids gardens which is packed full of entertainment for all the family and the circus skills area.
I think it is going to be a busy weekend!!

Thanks for posting this. It’s certainly something to attend now I’m a new mum over 40 – I feel the need to get down with the kids from time to time! Having been out of touch with kiddies things for quite some time, until mat leave – I didn’t even know who Mr Tumble was! … I DEFINITELY know now however!

How exciting. We went back in the day in its 2nd year and continued to go right up to 2012. It was a great period of our lives. We now go to other festivals as they are older kids now but the fireworks on the last night was such a great sight.

We have a similar wish list. School of rock is definitely on the boys’ shortlist too. Hope to see you there!
