Review: Cinderella at Lighthouse Poole
We are on the countdown to Christmas and one of the highlights of this time of year has to be the Pantomime.
This year, The Lighthouse has produced their pantomime in-house, with Cinderella being directed by local lovely and children’s TV favourite Chris Jarvis, who also stars as the lovelorn hero Buttons.
This traditional pantomime was set on Poole Quay and was filled with lots of local references, although the kids were slightly disappointed that we don’t actually have a Hardup Hall to visit.
The other famous name on the bill was Outnumbered star Tyger Drew-Honey, who was brilliant as a dashing Prince Charming, but the real stars of the show were the Ugly Sisters, Nadine and Doris, played by Andrew Pollard and Alim Jadavji who bounced off each brilliantly and had the audiences in stitches not only with their jokes and antics, but with their amazing costumes too.
The show is packed full of joyful singing and dancing, with the modern songs and some sing-a-long classics. Lauren Azania as the Fairy Godmother has the most amazing voice and audience participation is positively encouraged, throughout.
There were all the traditional “behind you” and “boo-hiss” moments, plus the “I’m H-A-P-P-Y” song for good measure.
Cinderella is on until the Saturday 31st December with tickets costing from £14 at lighthousepoole.co.uk/event/cinderella/
I guarantee the whole family will leave the theatre “H-A-P-P-Y!!”
