5 Hacks to Create a Home You’ll Love Returning To

We all love exploring the outside world.

And adventures are the best way that we can introduce our little ones to new experiences and cultures that are different from our own.

However, every so often, the time comes to return to our abodes – we all need to recharge somewhere, a place to call our own.

If you hate the end of your trips, here are five ways that you can make your home a little more tempting to return to.

  • Create a feature wall from your travels

With new digital printing technology it is now possible to create almost anything, whether it’s a personal photo or a wallpaper pattern to cover the entire wall, so you can really get something that will transport you back to you travels.

With Photowall you can create your very own wallpaper, canvas or poster from your own hi-res image. Simply upload a photo or illustration in any image file format, then enter your specific measurements and pick a wallpaper material. They can even edit the image by changing colours, adding / removing items, or change the proportions with their skilled technicians. Once your order is placed, they’ll print your wallpaper and ship it within 1–4 working days!!

  • Indoor Plants

Indoor plants are perfect for provoking feelings of relaxation in your interiors. They’re great for adding a splash of colour and are shown to boost your mood.

However, keeping them watered can be a challenge if you’re away for long periods of time.

There are two great solutions to this plant problem – either find yourself a reliable shrubbery sitter to pop in and care for them while you’re away, or just cheat with fake foliage.

  • Cosy Comfort

Dreate a space that you’ll be eager to return to by putting the focus comfort. By filling your rooms with plenty of soft textures, you’ll be able to curl up on those cold evenings with warm drink and good book.

Having a variety of textures also makes your home feel more lived in – this is a good idea if you spend a lot of time out and about.

  • New Doors

New doors are one of the most subtle but effective alterations we can make to our homes. While whites might be all the rage, wooden tones give your abode a more homely feel.

If you’re looking to invest in some artisan entryways, visit the experts at Oakwood Doors. They stock a superb range and are staffed by design experts eager to find the perfect door for your aesthetic.

  • Plenty of Storage

No one wants to come home to clutter. Ask yourself when was the last time you had a proper sort out? If you can’t remember, then you should put one in your diary.

Commit a weekend to a clear out, hire a skip if you need to, and get rid of all the junk you don’t need – your place will feel better for it.

Once you’ve decluttered your home, invest in some display cases for your beloved trinkets and treasures to show them off in all their glory, as well as some storage for those bits you’d rather keep safely tucked away.

  • Let in the Light

If you’re outdoorsy, then coming back inside can make you feel a little dreary.

Ensuring that your home is letting in as much natural light as possible can help you feel closer to nature even when you’re inside.

Pull back the curtains as soon as you get up in a morning, and don’t close them again until just before bed.
