Five Reasons to Visit South Africa

What would be the ideal holiday break for you? For some people it is spending time with friends and family, but for others it’s just taking the opportunity to go and explore far flung places. For some, meeting interesting and new people is as exciting as hiking and horse riding. 

Going on holiday is still considered a luxury, and with the cost of living crisis right now it’s even more so. But if lazy lunches in beautiful surroundings, riding the Blue Train and seeing wildlife all does it for you, then you should be thinking about why you should visit South Africa. The good news is that in this article we’re going to go through some of the reasons that South Africa should be your next destination of choice.

For those breathtaking beaches. It doesn’t matter where you go in South Africa, there is always a breathtaking beach to see. Cape Town has the best urban beaches in the world, whether you’re going to Boulders Beach or Camps Bay. However, although along the SA garden route you’ll find the Indian Ocean coastline with pristine soft sand that is constantly kissed by waves. The further north you go, the warmer it gets so you’ll find those tropical coral reefs you’ve been seeking.

You could tick off the big 5. If you’ve never heard of it, you need to start Googling! South Africa is actually one of the very few places in the world where you can see elephants, rhinos, leopards, lions and Buffalo in their natural habitat. It’s one of the best safari destinations you will ever go to, and it’s got some outstanding conservation areas. The entire family will be able to enjoy the national parks, and the game reserves here are unparalleled.

For the food. Can you go to South Africa without going to Cape Winelands? The culinary delights hero like nothing else, and it’s the country’s undisputed gourmet capital. There are beautiful estates to explore, with vine covered patios where you can relish in some of the best food that has ever been made. Cape Town is the oldest foodie destination in South Africa, but that doesn’t mean you should skip out on Joburg. With craft beer, excellent coffee and tons of exciting street food markets, you’ll always find something to eat.

The Aerial Cableway in Cape Town. South Africa has so much to see undo, but the Aerial Cableway is something you should definitely not miss. It’s a cable car ride that goes up and down Table Mountain, but while you’re here you could also hike there. You get a taste of the great outdoors when you do it, just make sure you have a guide with you because nobody wants to get lost on a walking tour on a mountain. There’s never a dull moment.

You’ll meet new people. If socialising with new people is something you love to do when you’re on holiday, you’re in the right place in South Africa. There is so much to see and do an you’ll be able to meet a melting pot of fascinating cultures that form one amazing nation.
