How To Entertain Kids While You Camp
There is nothing more stressful for a parent than parenting on a holiday. Taking the kids away and all of the organisation that goes with that is a lot of work for parents. There’s going to be a day that you will be bundling the kids up and going on a break, but trying to entertain them while you’re away isn’t the easiest thing to do. The good news is that when you plan a break to go camping, you are equipping your children with plenty of things to do just by being on the road!
Camping is an adventure, and whether you check out bespoke campervans for sale before you go and camp on the road, or you spend money going to a specific camping site, you need to think about the methods of entertainment that you can use. We’re living in an increasingly digital world but when you camp, the choices of WIFI are often limited. They’re not impossible to find, but they are fewer and far between. Instead of worrying how you’re going to get your children their screen time while you’re away, you need other ways to keep the children busy and entertained while you travel. Let’s take a look!
- Set up a scavenger hunt. When you camp, you are going to be going to different locations while you’re on the road. That means that you are going to have a brand new location for a hunt wherever you stop. Before you leave, put together a list of things that you’d like to hide and bring the bag with you. You can then create lists of those items and hide them in each location for the kids to find.
- Get them engaged in the scenery. You may have a gaggle of budding photographers and while you might not be able to stock up on disposable cameras, you should think about getting the children involved in the scenery. Give the kids a fun list of things to photograph while you’re camping and then put together an album of those photos! You’ll then have books full of photographs taken by the children while you were away.
- Go geocaching! This is one of those camping activities that the whole family can get involved in and it’s super fun. You can download geocaching apps and get involved with exploring the local areas everywhere you stop. Whether you camp with a campervan or you camp at different sites around the country, you can find geocaching in the area.
- Get crafty. There are so many ways that you can indulge in crafts while you camp. You don’t have to be cooped up in the van the whole time! Get scouring the beach for shells and sea glass, or go into the forests for types of flowers and bark. You can then create new pictures with leaf rubbings, or make structures with fallen elements like sticks and acorns.
Entertaining children while you camp is so much easier when you have a little imagination with it!
