How to hire a Beach Hut in Bournemouth

I have lived in Bournemouth for thirty plus years and have always loved admiring the beach huts, but until now, I thought they were fairly inaccessible to the general public.

This glorious Bank Holiday weekend, I was lucky enough to be offered a beach hut to review through Sobo Beaches, who offer beach hut rental in Dorset.

You can hire a beach hut all across Bournemouth Bay, from the quieter beaches of Southbourne, surfers paradise of Boscombe, to the hustle and bustle of Bournemouth town centre or family friendly Canford Cliffs, with prices starting from £44 per day.

I opted for a beach hut on Bournemouth’s West Cliff, which meant I was fairly to close to the family friendly amusements, in case the weather turned.

In the hut was everything we needed for a comfortable beach stay; chairs, deck chairs, buckets & spades, picnic blankets, mugs, cups, cutlery and plates. All I needed to bring down was food and drink and towels. There was even a kettle, but it was far too hot for a cuppa, but that would have been perfect on a cool spring day.

Bournemouth was incredibly hot this weekend, reaching 30°C and having the beach hut was a godsend, as I could pop Lilah in the shade during the hottest part of the day.

It also meant that we could spend the whole day at the beach in comfort. It was just Lilah and I to start with and gradually the whole family and friends appeared, meaning we used it from 10am until around 9pm at night.

The beach hut also had a handy curtain on it, which you could attach across the front for handy changing, or to keep the kids (and cool box) shaded – this was really handy as we did spent quite a bit of time in the water cooling off.

I will certainly hire a beach hut again, as it made such a difference to our enjoyment of the beach – no sand in your picnic and a safe place to store all your paraphernalia. The only addition we could have done with was a parasol, but it really was unusually hot for this time of year.
