How to travel with confidence

Whenever I book holidays for my family, I like to be prepared and plan ahead much as I can. Because we travel with kids, I am always keen to make sure our trips are budget-friendly and hassle-free.

Here, I share with you some of the best tips I have learned along with way. I hope that they will inspire you to do the same before you set off on your next adventure.

Once you pick your destination and know how long your holiday will be, the next step is to do your research. A great way to start is by looking online to develop your knowledge of the area, any local customs and traditions as well as handy information on the local culture and history.

An essential part of planning any holiday is to create an itinerary, which includes your must-have places to check out. I highly recommend this if you want to avoid missing anything off your list. If you need help with your itinerary, why not visit your local travel agent for guidance? They will be more than happy to help.

Travelling with kids does not mean our holidays need to be expensive to be unforgettable. An important part of my research revolves around searching for the best flight deals so we can get the most out of our trip. It is also advisable to look at any additional costs and expenses you might need.

I like to get advice from people who have visited the same destination before, too. Their tips give me a fresh perspective on things I might not have previously considered, like where to eat and things to do.

I always find reading reviews extremely helpful. Whether you read travel blogs, or watch travel videos, it will be beneficial when it comes to planning your holiday. Online tourism boards are worth visiting if you need any additional support, or have any further questions.

As a family, we like to embrace fun days out, so if you wish to get involved in adventure-filled day trips, find out if you need to pre-book excursions or tours to save time.

An innovative way to ‘try before you buy’ is to look at a virtual tour, like this one from Journey Latin America. On your fascinating first-hand experience, you can navigate through your destination on a 360-degree tour to see what your holiday can offer you. What’s more, you can do this while you relax with cup of tea.

If you need assistance with your packing, I have the perfect tips on how to pack your bags correctly for extra guidance. Admittedly, it is not my favourite job, but I start preparing my luggage a week before leaving to guarantee I do not forget to bring any essentials. Your bags or suitcase should be filled with practical items that suit the season you will be travelling in.

Ultimately, the key to travelling with confidence for any holiday is to plan before you travel, so you know exactly what to expect. For more travel inspiration, discover my latest travel adventures.

I always like to have everything planned out when I’m travelling with kids. Totally different if it is just me. But there is so much to consider with family. I do like to have a good read about online, particularly looking at reviews. You tend to get a good idea from most of the comments.

I am very much agree with what you said about travelling with kids does not have to be expensive to be unforgettable. I find that they my eldest cherish simple memories: playgrounds, the seaside, good meals and above all: people. People we have visited, stayed with and we met during traveling.

Planning is so important I think, and preparing all the things you like to see and do! I am also a huge fan of lists which makes organising and planning a lot easier!

I love the idea of a virtual tour of the destination in mind, I have planned a couple trips and would be awesome to do a virtual of some of the destinations.

Planning ahead is the best tip and I definitely like to do that even on day-trips anywhere 🙂 I feel like I’m seeing more and doing more, not just wondering around x

I always plan ahead especially now having a little one. I love to travel and have been doing it since I was four, so it is natural for me.
