Jacob's First Ski Holiday – a children’s book to prepare young skiers for their first snow holiday
Nick Robinson, founder and CEO of Maison Sport the online platform for booking qualified and professional instructors in France, Italy and Switzerland, has written a book for to help prepare them for their first skiing holiday.
The beautifully illustrated book is aimed at children aged four to eight and tells the story of Jacob, who is about to embark on his first ski adventure. Nick has been careful to balance the fun and excitement of a ski holiday with reassurance and explanation of what Jacob will experience on his trip – as a parent of a young child himself, Nick knows that skiing for the first time can be daunting.
Jacob’s First Ski Holiday follows Jacob’s journey through excitement and nervousness about his upcoming trip, to his pride at mastering his first turns and elation at the feeling of skiing down the piste. It also contains some handy tips that will help readers in their first lessons.
Nick’s venture into creative writing follows a desire to share his passion for skiing with his daughter and his frustration that he couldn’t find a children’s book to read to her to help her catch the ‘skiing bug’. For several years Nick’s daughter heard the story of Jacob at bedtime and he has now put pen to paper to share the story with children set to take to the slopes for the first time this winter.
Nick explains more: “The memory of my first skiing holiday with my family has remained with me for many years – I can still remember my excitement the first time I saw the mountains and the snow and how happy I was whizzing through the trees down the slopes. As a ski instructor, it was really important to me that my daughter had the chance to experience this same feeling and Jacob’s adventures did a fantastic job of preparing her for her first season on the slopes. I’m thrilled that Jacob will now be able to help the next generation of skiers prepare for their first snow holiday.”
