Last chance to meet giant fearsome creatures at Marwell Zoo this October half term
TAKE your mini monsters to Marwell Zoo this October half term for the last chance to see its larger than life toy brick adventure SUPERSIZED!
The world exclusive event featuring more than two million toy bricks is on display alongside the zoo’s hundreds of exotic and endangered animals until 1 November 2020 and we were lucky enough to visit SUPERSIZED at Marwell back in the summer.
Guests enter the zoo through a ‘shrinking machine’ to start their journey around an educational trail which dispels the myths of some of the deadliest creatures in the world, all blown up to enormous proportions.
Featuring up to 30 models of curious real-life creatures, from sneaky predators such as the venomous blue-ringed octopus to the aptly named assassin bug, these fearsome species have been chosen for their colourful appearance in nature and unusual natural abilities. The peacock spider brick model is magnified 208 times larger than its 0.5cm size, smaller than a fingernail.
Highlights include a three metre tarantula and a towering two-metre spitting cobra and there will be new sculptures on display exclusively for half term – a 1m long glaucus atlanticus, a species of poisonous sea slug, plus a Marwell competition winner’s drawing of a curious pink fairy armadillo SUPERSIZED! into a bespoke toy brick model.
Marwell Zoo’s 140 acres of landscaped park is the perfect place to get closer to nature and admire the changing Autumn colours plus let your little monkeys go wild in one of five adventure play areas including the new Okapi play park.
From stunning snow leopards and towering magnificent rhinos to fascinating binturongs and reptiles such as the venomous Gila monster and Dumeril’s ground boa, Marwell offers you the opportunity to get up close to amazing members of the animal kingdom this Halloween.
Conservation charity Marwell Wildlife owns and operates the zoo so by visiting you will be helping amazing projects to conserve species and habitats both in the UK and around the world.
SUPERSIZED! is included with general admission. Zoo ticket prices cost from £18 per child (3-16 years) and £22 per adult, which include an optional donation. Children under three are free. Don’t forget – Pre-Booking is essential.
