Matilda the Musical on tour!!
We first saw Matilda the Musical in London back in January 2017 and then last year we took Eliza to see it and she fell in love.
When we found out that they were taking the musical on tour, we made sure we booked tickets to see it when it landed at the Mayflower Southampton.
The stage was set up just like it is in London, which added to the excitement for us all.
Matilda is mine and Eliza’s favourite Roald Dahl book, full of magic, dark humour and larger-than-life characters, which transfers perfectly to stage and the actors really didn’t disappoint.
The kids were brilliant and really brought the play to life, with catchy songs, great choreography and lots and laughs and giggles along the way.
It was Elliot Harper who really stole the show as he managed to be terrifying and hilarious all at once as the wicked bully Miss Trunchbull – we were all crying with laughter at the gym lesson scene.
As for the cartoonish and larger-than-life Mr and Mrs Wormwood, they brought the fun to the show with their obsession with dance, television and trying to make a fast buck with dodgy car sales.
With a fantastic score from Tim Minchin, this catchy musical is one of our most listened to soundtracks at home and Eliza impressively sang along to the whole thing!
Matilda is a heartwarming tale that the whole family will love, but hurry, it is only at the Mayflower Theatre until 6th July!!
