Our Travel Goals for 2019 – The Results Are In!
Back in January last year, I wrote a post with our travel goals for 2019.
If I am honest it was a bit of a wishlist as we hadn’t booked anything and we had only just found out that my husbands job was safe after being threatened with redundancy.
As it turned out, 2019 turned into a best year of travel yet and I am not sure we are going to be able to beat it!
Visit Iceland
I went through the year lamenting that we had missed our chance to go to Iceland again, however, after failing to go away in the summer holidays and finding a really, really good deal, we spent October half term exploring as much of the beautiful country as we could squeeze into the week.
Disneyland – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
I spent a lot of time researching holidays to both California and Florida to get to see the new Galaxy’s Edge attraction, but sadly we just could not make it affordable for us.
Explore more of our beautiful country on foot
Although we didn’t do a family walking holiday this year, we did get lots of walking in, with visits to Snowdonia and Northern Ireland’s causeway coast.
Take the kids to Puy Du Fou
We spent May half term in Puy Du Fou before moving on to Futuroscope and exploring Nantes.
The kids loved both parks as much as I thought they would and next year we are hoping to visit their new site in Spain.
Be more adventurous
I have eventually earned my adventure stripes this year. I completed my Kayak out to Old Harry Rocks and have learned some climbing techniques and got to try my hand a riding a segway.
Invest in our own Paddleboard
We are now the proud owners of three paddleboards and an inflatable kayak!
We bought one and then realised that we were not going to get away with the kids taking it in turns!
See the Jurassic Coast from the Water
As mentioned above I did kayak out to Old Harry Rocks and around to Swanage Bay, but we didn’t manage any further along the coast.
Let the kids make their own travel list and make sure we tick them off
The kids did make their own list and although we didn’t tick all the locations off, we did complete most of them.
Not get rained off at Camp Bestival
Not only did it not rain, but Camp Bestival was back to its very best!!
Visit Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland was our first holiday of the year and my husband even got to complete his Game of Thrones filming location tour as well as squeezing in everything else that the kids and I wanted to see.
I think 9 out 10 travel goals wasn’t bad!!
Did you achieve your travel goals for 2019?
