Review: Cool Coast Ice Rink, Bournemouth
Growing up in Bournemouth, one of my favourite activities was visiting the ice rink in Westover Road, but that sadly closed back in 1991.
In the winter, we do get an ice rink back and it opened again last weekend.
The South Coast’s biggest indoor ice rink, Cool Coast Ice Rink is situated at the rear of the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC), in the Purbeck Hall.
We were instantly WOW’d by the Alpine inspired setting as we walked in the door.
You are required to show your COVID pass as you enter and then you can collect your skates from the skate hire area.
They also have a team of penguin ‘skate mates’ poised to help those not so confident on the ice, a mini training rink and skate marshals on hand to help, with hints and tips to get the most of your session.
Cool Coast is the South Coast’s only indoor skating venue – so regardless of the weather conditions you can get your skates on, the rink is always ready for action!
The rink’s alpine location also offers delicious crepes, pretzels, waffles and hot beverages, so after our skate session we treated ourselves to warming hot chocolate as a treat, just be aware that if you are the last session of the day, you don’t have much time and we ended up drinking ours as we walked back to the car.
There are daily sessions running until the 22nd February. Tickets start from £11.00 adult / £10 child / senior citizens and can be booked online via coolcoasticerink.co.uk with group bookings and discounts also available.
