Review: GLOW Marwell 2024
Marwell Zoo at Christmas has always been one of our favourite places to visit and this year is no exception.
GLOW Marwell sees the zoo transformed into a stunning illuminated wonderland as its magical light experience returns brighter and more interactive than ever before.
Glow Marwell 2024 sees you immerse yourself in a world of fire, earth, air and water as you journey through the enchanted nature trail, which follows the route of the zoo to Cafe Graze and then along past Marwell Hall and back to the entrance.
There are photo opportunities at every turn and you can even become part of the magic this year with vibrant UV face paints and a brand-new immersive VR headset experience where you soar through the sky, dive under the ocean and roam the land without leaving the zoo with Wild Immersion’s state-of-the-art virtual reality film, New Odyssey Around the World.
Swim with jellyfish in a new ocean display, drift among glowing clouds in the Sky Zone, stroll in the snow beside a luminous ancient woodland, leap across colour changing stepping stones and gather around crackling firepits for toasted marshmallows.
The one-of-a-kind Enchanted Tree is back, and it’s had an upgrade! A stunning display of weaving lights is inspired by the mycelium network, the incredible underground phenomenon connecting nature’s ecosystems.
Father Christmas and his mischievous elves are back where they belong in the majestic Grade I listed Marwell Hall.
The food does not disappoint either, with a festive menu packed with mouthwatering treats, such as giant stuffed Yorkshire puddings with all the trimmings, illuminated candy floss, and the ultimate winter warmer, a delicious crumble pot with custard. Additionally, the Glow Marwell Hot Chocolate Trail invites guests to indulge in a variety of delicious hot cocoa while exploring the route.
Marwell is hosting two Quiet Glow Marwell dates on Monday 2 December and Monday 9 December 2024 for those who would like a calmer and more relaxed experience.
Tickets for Glow Marwell, from Friday 29 November until Monday 30 December on selected dates, must be pre-booked. Your admission also includes free access to the zoo from 1pm until 4pm, so you can explore the beautiful 140-acre park and amazing animals then watch as the zoo transforms into a twinkling wonderland.
