Review: Sleeping Beauty – Lighthouse Poole
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to see a pantomime and this year we made the trip to see Sleeping Beauty at Lighthouse Poole in the lull period between Christmas and New Year and it was the perfect pick me up.
We all know the story of Sleeping Beauty, but add a little of Chris Jarvis magic, Adam Tuffrey’s music and locally themed jokes and you know you are on to a winner.
Princess Rose is ready to take on a brilliant new adventure beyond her castle walls beyond her 18th birthday, having been hidden away on Brownsea Island with Nanny Nutkins (Chris Jarvis), but the evil Carabosse (Sarah-Louise Young) has other ideas. Can true love save the day? One kiss is all it takes.
This story of good versus evil, a slightly mad King Tucker (Todd Carty), spinning wheels, a bad fairy, a fairy godmother, a bit of a nap, some woods, and a handsome prince is full to the brim of pantomime fun. With slapstick comedy, fun jokes, a sprinkling of innuendo, plenty of “Boooo’s” and some of the best pantomime Dame costumes I have seen, it really is the perfect antedote to the post Christmas blues.
The music and dance numbers have you clapping and dancing along and a Poole pantomime just wouldn’t be the same without the “Ghostie and Ghoulie” song and the riotous “12 days of Christmas” – FIVE TOILET ROLLS!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed the show from start to finish and the added snow and confetti cannons definitely an added bonus of excitement for the kids.
Sleeping Beauty runs until 5th January 2025 and is a must see! Visit https://www.lighthousepoole.co.uk/event/sleeping-beauty/ for times and prices.
