Shrek's Adventure London – Review

We first visited Shrek’s Adventure in London when it opened back in June 2015 and a couple of times since, but the kids have been asking to return this summer.

Situated between the London Dungeons and Sealife Centre on the South Bank, Shrek’s Adventure is part of the Merlin group and offers discounts when booking tickets with the other attractions, or free entry with a Merlin Annual Pass.

Shrek’s Adventure is an immersive, interactive experience with live actors and sees you meet Princess Fiona and board a magical bus to the land of Far, Far Away for an adventure like no other.

Although the story has remained the same, elements of the experience have been updated, with new green screens for photos and new characters to see in the Dreamwork’s Hall afterwards, including the Light Fury from How to Train a Dragon.

Now the kids are older, it is lovely to see them interacting more with the characters and Eliza was over the moon to get picked to press the button in the Bus Station with Princess Fiona. We all chuckled when Daddy had to perform a dance routine with Esmereldo and the kids got splashed with water when presenting the “hair of a hero” to the cook, to help make a potion.

There is no photography / filming allowed during the experience which means you can really enjoy it, however, there is lots of opportunities for photo’s afterwards with some of your favourite Dreamwork’s characters.

I think the kids had as much fun posing with the characters as they did during the show.

If visiting with young children, be aware that some of the scenes can be quite scary for little ones, or those with a nervous disposition.

Tickets prices start from £16 for children and £20 for adults – find out more here.

Are we nearly there yet? is a new online blog run by me, Kara Guppy, and is named as such thanks to my daughter Eliza who always asks that very question when we are less than 5 minutes up the road heading off on our adventures. You may know me from my other family blog chelseamamma.co.uk
