What should we wear on our Cruise?
The countdown to our cruise aboard the Carnival Vista is now in double figures with just 91 days until we set off from Barcelona.
We are all really excited as the ship has now been officially launched but it also means the nerves have kicked in. I have never been on a cruise before and have no idea what to dress myself in, never mind Hubby and the kids!
Carnival Cruises state on their website that most evenings are “Cruise Casual” but that there are “Cruise Elegant” evenings a few nights on each sailing so a mixture of mix and match wardrobe staples that can be dressed up or down for Hubby and I.
The kids will be entertained in the Ocean Club during the day when they are not with us, with the littlest little ones like Sebastian and Eliza, ages 2 to 5, join the Penguin colony and engage in activities like Musical Icebergs and Ocean Bingo, even learning a thing or two about buoyancy! The little-biggers, like Isaac age 6 to 8, are the way-cool Stingrays, who might be found enjoying Pirate Game Night, making sea salt art or even designing their own aquarium so they will need to wear practical clothing during the day.
I know the highlight of the ship for the kids will be the outdoor activities and Kian especially is keen to try the skyride, ropes course and log flumes, although I have a sneaky suspision that he will be camped out at Club O2 where he can watch movies, listen to music, play sports and video games, join karaoke jam sessions and maybe even have a pool party or two, all with other like-minded teens.
I have just bought all the kids some UV Sun Wear but need to invest in some kids sandals for them all to wear on board and then when we go exploring off the ship too. Brantano have a great offer of £10 off a £20 spend with My Mail
I think I will have to take Kian shopping as he is at that age where he wants to choose his own clothes, but I will insist that he takes some smart clothes to wear as well as t-shirts and shorts that I know he would prefer to live in.
Have you been on a cruise – what advise can you give me on what to wear?

Everyone I know gains 5kg on a cruise so don’t take skinny day clothes!
Kara
Great tip, thank you!

I’ve never been on a cruise before. It looks like you and your family had a great time! I would love to try some of Isaac’s ice cream. 🙂

Oh you’re going to have such an amazing time! I think I’d be a little unsure about what clothes to take too. My parents have been on cruises with my little sister when she was younger and there are a few dress up dos so I’d take a little black dress just in case ! xx

I am so jealous, I have never been on a cruise before but would love to one day. The kids activity area looks really fun.

I have never been, so can’t help you, but just wanted to wish you a fantastic time. Am sure you will all love it!

I guess it really depends on the weather. But you should probably get your swim suits with you 🙂
Jen
I have never been on a cruise. I would love the opportunity to dress up, but the thought o being sea sick just puts me off

We’ve been once for our honeymoon and loved it! But I can second the comment about skinny clothes! ????
Cass@frugalfamily
I took two quite formal dresses and the rest just dresses that I felt comfortable in – I never felt out of place in anything as there was such a bit mix x
Rachel
I have never ever been on a cruise so I cannot wait to hear about how well you got on x
Joanna

That Lily&Sid shirt is AMAZING! Love the print! Have a great time on your cruise!
Erica Price
We wore practical stuff in the day. We had some formal nights for the full DJ and evening dress. I had a couple of dresses & borrowed one off a friend. We had some informal short sleeved shirts for H for most evenings and a couple of smarter ones for the formal evenings.
Sonia
W are going to Orlando in the summer and I need to sort out clothes for that too! WE have literally no summer clothes so it’s going to be expensive! x
Ninjacat
Ooh what fabulous outfits , I wouldn’t mind a cruise
Emma
I’m so excited for you, it’s going to be amazing!!! I’ve never cruised though so can’t offer fashion advice.
anthea
oh wow, that looks so amazing. Comfortable summery light weight clothes that you can layer up id it gets cold. I always take dresses for me that I can dress up with posh shoes and jewellery be dressed down and worn during the day.
