What to expect at Camp Bestival 2017
It is no secret that Camp Bestival is one of the highlights of the year for us.
Based locally here in Dorset at the spectacular Lulworth Castle, Camp Bestival is a true family friendly festival that features entertainment, activities and live performers that will delight guests, young and old.
For the last few years it has had a theme, which has seen us dress up as characters from the Gruffalo, Circus Performers and Space Men. This year is no exception with the theme of Popstars and Rockstars and although we have yet to decide who we are going as, I think Isaac may be ready to channel his inner rock god already!
For the kids is the Dingly Dell, home to our favourite area Lizzie’s Way where the kids get to make mud pies, make fairy potions, hang their wishes on a wish tree and dress up and pose behind a giant frame.
Here you also learn to do #50things with the National Trust, take a stroll in the woodland arena and discover how to make fires in the wilderness, how to carve a wand or build a home for fairies. I urge you to book the sleeping under the stars evening with Fore Adventure as it was the highlight of our weekend last year.
We are also excited to see that our friends Dick n Dom will be back with more madness on stage, including a Dick vs Dom silent disco – sounds like great fun and make sure you listen out for a riotious game of BOGIES that always rings out throughout the campsite.
For the little ones, Mr Tumble is back too, voicing some of his favourite characters, singing some infectiously catchy songs and filling the Castle Stage in the morning (normally only packed at night)
Isaac is over the moon that the Tudors on Tour are also back this year and he is determined to make a bigger candle than last year!
There is also going to be a kids giant disco, with the world’s biggest disco ball – I cannot wait to see that and the world’s largest bouncy castle will be back too!
For us adults, so far, Madness, Mark Ronson, Louisa Johnson, Leftfield, Right Said Fred, Holly Johnson and the Bootleg Beatles have been announced so far and I am also looking forward to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s amazing new musical based on the classic 2003 film School of Rock, who will also be performing.
The star attraction in the culinary fun is The Feast Collective, a food lover’s haven packed with the very best street food from around the country!
There is so many more activities I could rave about, including the insect circus, art town, the science zone and of course the pop up shows, but I will be here all day. Do check out my post on things to see in Dorset if you plan on staying longer or leave the site.
Have you been to Camp Bestival before, what are your highlights or are you a newbie and busy trawling the website for ideas?

I would love to take the kids to Camp Bestival, we only live down the road. Last year I wasn’t well enough to go, now I’m wondering if it’s too late to get tickets.

You’ve explained it really well for someone who’s never been to a festival with children… one day I WILL brave the outdoors with Boo for something like this!
