Zip World Velocity 2

Posted on
April 10, 2019

Way back in 2015, Hubby and Kian visited North Wales and took on the challenge of Zip World Titan, a four person zip line which offers spectacular views over moor, mountain and mine and encompasses three separate zip lines – Anarchy, Bedlam and Chaos.

Ever since they have been dropping hints left, right and centre about taking on Zip World’s Velocity 2 – The Fastest Zip Line in the World.

Velocity 2 is not only the fastest zip line in the world, with speeds up to 125mph, but it is also the longest in Europe at 1,555 metres long and 500 feet above Penrhyn Quarry.

Knowing we were visiting North Wales this week, I booked them on to do the zip, which is around half an hours drive from where we are staying in Anglesey.

Zip World

At arrival you check-in and get kitted up in some rather fetching red boiler suits, a helmet and protective goggles. It is then a short walk to a smaller zip wire for a taster of what is to come.

Zip World

It was fascinating watching them laid on the specially made ‘air beds’ and getting their harness attached.

Zip World

The bed then lowers leaving them suspended before launching them across the lake.

Zip World

After you fly across the quarry, the line lowers you to the ground gently and you are loaded into a lorry to be transported to the top of the quarry to ride Velocity 2.

Zip World

It is around a 20 minute ride to the top and the Skyline building, where they riders are sent down the Velocity Zip Line in groups of 4.

Zip World

There is good phone signal here, so I was communicating with them right up until they were ready to get connected to the zip line, so I knew roughly when they would launch.

Velocity 2

We instantly knew it was them thanks to the cries of “BOGIES” as they whizzed past!!

Zip World

Both Hubby and Kian loved every second and came off feeling exhilarated and wanting to do it all over again!!

Top Tips for visiting Zip World Velocity

Zip World

Prices

Flights are cheaper mid-week, at £65, so if you are on a budget and are flexible you could save a lot of money. Weekend and holidays could cost you up to £89 per person.

If you plan on visit other Zip World locations, you can buy discounted packages for all three sites.

Zip World

Action Cam Footage

We are lucky enough to own a GoPro, however you can hire a Garmin Action Cam for an extra £19 per person.

If there are two or more of you and you only want hire one, put it on the lightest person as they will get a shot of everyone out in front.

Spectators

Be prepared for lots of waiting around as each session lasts around 2 hours. There is a picnic area, restaurant / cafe and viewing platform, however if you have children with you there is nothing for them to do.

Photo’s / Videos

There is the opportunity to buy Zip World’s footage of your flight and a photo at an extra cost of £15 per person.

Velocity 2

A photo only is slightly cheaper at £10 per person.

Velocity 2

Facilities

All the facilities are in the main hub, so make sure you “go” before you get kitted up!!

Zip World

All-in-all a visit to ride Velocity is a great experience, but I would not recommend taking children as there is a lot of waiting around with nothing for them to do.

Oh my goodness, that looks amazing although I am not entirely sure I would go on it. I love zip wires but heights is another thing and combining the two I think the height and speed may just be too much for me.

Amazing views, but this looks like my worst nightmare! I can’t deal with heights. I’d be scared of falling, especially after the news report the other day of someone’s zipline snapping on a holiday in Thailand.
